President Ruto’s Son George Ruto ‘Mood’ Matatu FULL DETAILS

Nairobi’s matatu industry has just welcomed one of its boldest and most luxurious additions yet. George Ruto, the son of President William Ruto, officially launched a new matatu named Mood — a 25-seater vehicle valued at Ksh 14 million — during a high-energy event at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Thursday, July 18.
The matatu, which has already gone viral on social media, stunned onlookers in the Nairobi Central Business District, drawing a large crowd of curious Kenyans and public transport enthusiasts. The event included a live DJ performance and a convoy ride through the city, causing a temporary traffic snarl-up.
A New Era of Matatu Design
Mood is not your ordinary matatu. Designed with both innovation and luxury in mind, the vehicle has a lower seating capacity than the average Nairobi matatu to provide extra comfort. While many matatus carry up to 32 passengers, Mood accommodates just 25 — each seat fitted with a cup holder, USB charging ports, and plush bucket-style design.
The vehicle is fully air-conditioned and equipped with rooftop solar panels that power its advanced lighting and entertainment systems. Inside, the matatu features massive speakers, subwoofers, multiple flat-screen TVs (up to 65 inches), and even a built-in DJ booth right next to the driver’s seat — a first in Kenya’s public transport industry.
The matatu also boasts a push-to-start ignition system, sleek black alloy wheels, and graffiti-style artwork, with the name “Mood” emblazoned across the sides in colorful fonts. Its NTSA registration plate reads “Mood” in custom graphics.
A Spiritual Touch
Before embarking on its maiden city tour, Mood was dedicated through a short prayer ceremony. George Ruto, accompanied by a preacher, led the prayers and sprinkled holy water on the matatu’s seats — a symbolic gesture putting faith at the heart of the journey.
Mood Operating Routes and the Ruto Fleet
Mood is expected to operate along the Embakasi and Rongai routes, two of Nairobi’s most popular and competitive matatu corridors. The vehicle joins other luxury public transport vehicles under George Ruto’s name, including Manifest and Matrix, which have also garnered attention for their high-end customizations and unique entertainment features.
A Bold Statement in Public Transport
George Ruto’s unveiling of Mood is not just a personal milestone — it’s a powerful statement about the evolving nature of Nairobi’s matatu culture. By blending comfort, technology, and entertainment, Mood sets a new benchmark for the future of Kenya’s urban public transport.
Whether it’s seen as a flashy showpiece or the beginning of a wider transformation in the industry, one thing is certain: Nairobi commuters have never seen anything quite like it.
