The 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination results are finally out just weeks after the candidates sat for the tests

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu announced that the top candidate scored 428 marks out of a possible 500

This year’s KCPE is the last national examination of its kind as the curtains finally close on the 8-4-4 curriculum

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results for the year 2023 are finally out.

Machogu announced that English, Composition and Sign Language recorded an improvement in the 2023 exams as compared to 2022; with female candidates performing better in these than their male counterparts.

Male candidates performed slightly better in Maths and Science as compared to their female counterparts.

With this being the last KCPE exam, no candidate will have the chance to repeat Class Eight next year.

KCPE 2023 Results Summary:

  • 400 to 500 marks: 8,525 candidates
  • 300 to 399 marks 352,782 candidates
  • 200 to 299 marks: 658,278 candidates
  • 100 to 199 marks:- 383,025 candidates
  • 01 – 99 marks: 2,060 candidates
  • Top candidate scored 428 marks
  • 1,406,557 candidates sat for the 2023 KCPE examination.
  • 9,354 candidates didn’t sit for the examination and will have a chance to do a special examination in January 2024.
  • No candidate will repeat Class 8 as this year’s results will be the last of KCPE under the 8-4-4 system.
  • 2023 KCPE marks the end of the 8-4-4 system. KPSEA system will be fully operational.
  • Candidates can get their results by sending their index Number followed by initials ‘KCPE’ to SMS 40054.
