KPLC Blackout Today: Areas Affected and Updates
On Friday the 25th of August 2023, most parts of the country including major cities like Nairobi have experience total power blackout.
Important things such as flights at international airports have been canceled due to the blackout in the country.
Many major counties have been affected by the power blackout from Kenya Power.
This interruption is attributed to routine power maintenance, according to KPC officials.
This practice has led to a degree of inconvenience, particularly for businesses that often bear the brunt of financial losses during such interruptions.
Affected areas and Counties in Kenya include;
Nairobi County
Kiambu County
Kajiado county
Trans Nzoia County
Kilifi County
In a statement, the power utility firm said the blackout was caused by a system disturbance leading to a loss of bulk power supply in various parts of the country.
“We are working in collaboration with teams from all involved sector partners to facilitate speedy restoration of supply in the shortest time possible,” the company said.
The blackout was also reported in other counties including Nyamira, Kakamega, Siaya, Kiambu and Meru.
“We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused and we assure them that our technical team are currently working to identify the root cause and restore power to the affected areas. An update on the restoration progress will be provided as soon as possible,” Kenya Power said.
Throughout this year, Kenya Power Company has frequently faced similar issues that can sometimes cause a lot of inconvenience country wide.
