MP Jalang’o Kicked Out At Azimio Retreat In Machakos After Raila Arrives


On Thursday, February 9th 2023 Rowdy youths blocked Langata MP Phelix Odiwour (Jalang’o) from accessing the venue of the Azimio Parliamentary Group meeting.

Before he was even able to enter the meeting, the MP was first denied entry.

After, he got in, minutes later Jalang’o was kicked out of the Azimio la Umoja Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga arrived at the venue in Machakos county.

Jalang’o, in his address to the media, stated that he was asked to leave the venue by a close security guard of Raila Odinga.

He said. “Minutes after I walked in, one of his (Raila) close security asked me to walk out, and that is what I did.

“I feel bad because I love baba and I am a member of ODM. I feel bad that I cannot be there since Raila is in there,”

Among those in attendance at the Azimio Parliamentary Group meeting is Azimio La Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga,  Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka among others.

Jalang’o was among ODM party members who met president William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua earlier in the week. 

The MP also said that he does not regret meeting the president.

Asked whether he would apologise for taking a different direction from his party, Jalang’o said; “There is no apology about it, I went there for development.”

“I am still in Azimio, I am still a member of ODM. This is politics,” he added.
